After Vilnius we continued our journey to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Here is what we loved the most:
The boutique hotel we stayed in with its very special design (many mirrors and glass stairs) , Relais le Chevalier, located right in the center of the city.
The stroll around the old town. Despite the heat, there was constantly something interesting going on. In the area of the City Hall we were lucky enough to witness a spontaneous performance of a Spanish group of percussionists ‘Fills de la Vlama.’ They were incredibly good and the energy invested in the performance was certainly transmitted to the public (quite numerous towards the end of the performance). Our son just loved it and watched it all. I must say that generally speaking street music in Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn was of very good quality.
The exposition of the United Buddy Bear on the Dome Square, a gift from Germany to Latvia on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the state. Each bear represent a country of the United Nations and was designed by an artist of the respective country.
A fantastic discovery we made in a shopping mall while trying to escape the heat : ZINOO. At a first glace it looks like a play area for kids but this is actually a discovery center with all sorts of STEM type of games. So much fun!
Before we continued our adventure we’ve also visited the Riga Motor Museum, much enjoyed by the boys.
We should have definitely taken a bit more time to explore this colorful gem.
